Location information: Camerota is an Italian town of 6 899 inhabitants in the province of Salerno in Campania.
Characterized by a medieval imprint, the historic center is well defined and numerous buildings dating back to that era are still visible. The latter is also known informally as "Camerota alta", to distinguish it from the seaside village of Marina di Camerota.

The village of Camerota is located in southern Cilento and rises on a hill, along the provincial road that connects Marina di Camerota to Licusati. It is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. The coastal strip "Marina di Camerota" measures 32 km, along which there are many coves, caves and beautiful beaches.
In the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, Marina di Camerota suffered the phenomenon of emigration, aimed in particular towards South America and Venezuela: for the ties maintained with those lands, in a square in the center, in front of the port, a statue was erected to the Venezuelan "Libertador" Simón Bolívar, to whom the main street of the country and to the local cinema are also dedicated.

Marina di Camerota is located along the state road 562, 8 km east of Palinuro, 5 from Camerota, 18 from San Giovanni a Piro, and about 90 from Salerno. The coastal area includes to the west the areas and localities of Grotta del Ciclope (which housed a famous disco), Cala del Cefalo, Cala Finocchiara, Cala d'Arconte (with an adjacent island) and Calanca. To the east are Lentiscelle.
